LESTER SOOKLAL
Founder/President,
Slow Gospel Music Ministries.
Lester Sooklal is the Founder and President of Slow Gospel Music Ministries. In 1986 he began a career in secular music , but three years later in 1989, he accepted Jesus Christ into his life. His change was evident when he took his secular albums that he had owned, and disposed of them in the ocean, at King’s Wharf, San-Fernando. It was not very long after that, the enemy tried to take away his life, when he was attacked and stabbed in the head as well as in one of his shoulders. Miraculously God saved him and because of a purpose driven life, he later became the presenter and producer of a gospel program, initially named ‘Bold Direction.’ God spoke to his heart however, to rename the program ‘Slow Gospel Music’ because of the need to comfort and soothe the minds and hearts of people.
It was here that ‘Slow Gospel Music’ was born; on June 6th, 1993 as a thirty-minute gospel radio program, that was specially designed ‘to soothe your mind and uplift your spirit.’ Over the years it has grown into a multifaceted ministry, which not only includes a radio program that ministers through a lot of gospel songs and the incorruptible Word of God by various ministers, but also a prayer, intercession and hospital visitation ministry, food and clothing distribution for the poor and occasionally Bible distribution ministry.
These ministries are committed to exemplify Christian compassion. Many lives have been touched and changed by the Spirit of God both physically and spiritually through each of the ministries, based on the scripture…
“I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink… I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you came to see Me… Truly I tell you, when you did it for one of the least of these my brethren, you did it for Me”. - (Matt. 25:35-40).
