DAYA OTTLEY
“The Soiree” is a musical show hosted by 98.1FM Radio Announcer Daya Ottley. The word “Soiree” speaks of an evening event with music, and a gathering of people, usually over food. This is accomplished on air as listeners get the opportunity to “sink their teeth” into the appetizing spread of musical variations and styles. Desserts include giveaways, chitchat and educational nuggets.
One of the main features of “The Soiree” is the “Lime”. Lime in Trinidadian dialect (even though it is a very acidic fruit), refers to a group of friends getting together to just hang out, chat, have laughs and sometimes talk about any topic under the sun. “The Lime” in “The Soiree” does just that, with topics ranging from the latest in Gospel music to the politics of the day.
Daya”s distinctive bellowing voice adds authority and quality to the programme, which he does in his inimitable style, and blend of music
“The Soiree” can be heard on the fourth Saturday of every month, between 4pm and 8pm on ISAAC 98.1FM the Promise.
